Tommy Jones's Perfect Day - 2020 PBA Hall of Fame Classic

Tommy Jones, Kimberly Pressler
What a way to kick off the new PBA season.

It started off with a live broadcast of the PBA Hall of Fame Classic. San Francisco native Darren Tang came into the stepladder as the number 1 seed.

One of the newest inductees into the PBA Hall of Fame was the number 2 seed, Tommy Jones. He defeated Chris Barnes in an ugly game, 190-169 to advance to the final match.

And what a final.

Like mom Oksana Kovalova's first TV match to watch daughter Dasha bowl a 300 last August, Tommy's mom Linda's first TV match was to see her son bowl a perfect game.

The 300 game comes in TJ's 20th professional season, his 20th PBA title in the year 2020.

Way to go, TJ.

Dasha Kovalova - 2019 PWBA Louisville Championship 300 Game

source: Bowl.com
Dasha Kovalova
Last week, former Wichita State standout bowler Dasha Kovalova won her second PWBA title of the 2019 season.

Dasha did a lot more than just win the tournament. She bowled a perfect game in the championship match. She is only the fourth female to bowl a perfect game in a PWBA event on TV.

Michelle Feldman, Cara Honeychurch and Dasha's opponent, Liz Johnson, preceded Dasha.

To top it off, Dasha's mom Oksana watched the game front and center. It was the first time Oksana got to see Dasha bowl on TV in the United States.

CBS Sports posted on Facebook a great video clip highlighting each of Dasha's 12 strikes. Dasha's Wichita State teammate and longtime Team Singapore phenom Jazreel Tan can be seen at the end of the clip standing next to Oksana.

Congratulations again, Dasha.

Former Major League Baseball MVP Larry Walker bowls a perfect game

Larry Walker's Thursday night league in West Palm Beach, Florida

As some have tweeted to former MLB MVP outfielder-with-a-cannon-arm-Canadian Larry Walker, (Twitter name: @Cdnmooselips33 ) strikes are a good thing. Carrying a pretty impressive league average of 196, Walker bowled his first perfect game during league last night at Verdes Tropicana Lanes in West Palm Beach, Florida.

This was Walker's second perfect game. His first? When he played first base for the Montreal Expos on July 28, 1991 when Dennis Martinez pitched a perfect game.

Most valuable player. Two perfect games in 2 sports. Wow.

I love seeing families bowl together in leagues and tournaments. A teammate from my Wednesday night league and his dad bowl, but on different teams. My Sunday practice is with my Wednesday team along with the dad's team. The dad, Steve, bowls with Monica and Walter, who are wife and husband.

Not rare, yet not all that common, do we hear about family members bowling perfect games. But to me, it is the ultimate accomplishment when they can do it on the same team on the same night. Kathy, my Monday league teammate, is friends with a father who did this with his daughter.

So when James Stringer Jr., of Louisville, Kentucky and his dad, James Stringer Sr., both bowled 300 on their Tuesday league night December 17, they did exactly that.

Congratulations to Big and Lil J! I somehow get the feeling you guys will repeat.
